scsi0: AEN: INFO (0x04:0x005E): Cache synchronized after power fail:unit=0.

Problem

The following error messages are reported in the 3ware event log file. 

Feb 21 00:07:30 amble kernel: 3w-9xxx: scsi0: WARNING: (0x06:0x002C):
Unit #0: Command (0x2a) timed out, resetting card.
Feb 21 00:07:34 amble kernel: 3w-9xxx: scsi0: AEN: INFO (0x04:0x005E):
Cache synchronized after power fail:unit=0.

This occurs on a server configured with 3ware 9500S SATA RAID controller and Seagate hard drives.

Solution

Recently 3ware has released a new firmware for the 9500S and 9550SX controllers to improve compatiblity with the newer Seagate hard disk models. On the 9500S series, use the firmware revision 2.08.00.006 or higher. On the 9550SX series, use the firmware revision 3.02.00.016 or higher.
