RHEL3 does not detect hard drives connected to the Promise SATA150II TX2 Plus or SATA150II TX4
The Promise SATA150II TX2 Plus and SATA150II TX4 controllers require Red Hat Enterprise Linux Update 5 or higher. When using the card as a secondary controller, upgrading the kernel to version 2.4.21-32.EL or higher is sufficient to access the hard drives.
When using the card as a primary controller, it is necessary to download the latest RHEL3 ISO images and burn them into CD. These CD can then be used to install the operating system.
The latest RHEL3 kernel and ISO images can be downloaded through the Red Hat Network. A subcription is required to access the updates.
Note: CentOS 3.5 is the equivalent of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 Update 5.
