Problem:

The following error is printed in the system log when the 3w-sas driver loads during boot:

vpd r/w failed.  This is likely a firmware bug on this device.
Contact the card vendor for a firmware update.

This problems effects systems using the Supermicro H8SML motherboard.

Solution:

This error does not effect the normal operation of the system or the 3ware controller. No further action is necessary.
