Marvell hard drive compatibility list
Despite the standard specification, there are many incompatibilities with the SATA subsystem. Here is the list of hard drives that have been validated with the Marvell 88SX6041 and 88SX6081 Serial ATA II controller.
Seagate
- Barracuda 7200.9 series - firmware revision 3AAH or higher is required
- Barracuda 7200.10 series - supported
- Barracuda ES series - supported
- NL35.2 series - firmware revision 3AEH or higher is required
If you have purchased drives outside of ASL, please contact Seagate technical support to obtain the latest firmware update.
Note: Because the firmware update utility does not support the Marvell controller, the hard disk has to be connected to a different computer that has the onboard Intel ICH or Nvidia nForce SATA controller.
