How do I create RAID-10?
A RAID 10 array is a two layer structure composed of both RAID 1 and RAID 0. Disks are first grouped into mirrored pairs (RAID 1). These arrays are then striped to form a RAID 0 array.
Enter the BIOS Configuration Utility by pressing CTRL-M during boot-up, then follow these steps:
- Select CONFIGURATION / NEW CONFIGURATION
- Select the first two drives for the RAID 10 array by pressing the spacebar twice, and ENTER once.
- Select the next two drives for the RAID 10 array by pressing space twice, and ENTER twice.
- On the popup window labeled "Select Configurable Array(s)", two array boxes (A-01 and A-02) will be displayed. Press space bar. The 1st array box will display Span-1. Press the right cursor key once to move to the 2nd array box. Press space bar again. The 2nd array box will display Span-2.
- Press F10. A summary screen displays the RAID 1 array with spanning set to Yes..
- Move the right cursor key down to the option ACCEPT and press ENTER twice
- At the Save Configuration screen, select YES
- Press a key to continue - Go to initialize drives. Select the drive to initialize, then press F10 to initialize. Initializing wipes all data from drives, and is necessary to make the logical drive usable.
- After initialization completes, exit the utility and reboot.
