Linux fails to detect the onboard Intel gigabit adapter.

Problem:

On the Marquis C515, Linux fails to detect the onboard Intel gigabit adapter during the installation.

Details:

The onboard gigabit adapter requires version 7.1.9 or greater of the Intel e1000 driver.

Solution:

For systems running under Fedore Core, use the ASL distribution CD or DVD that has the 2.6.17-1.2157_FCXasl.3 kernel or greater. The kernel version is printed on the CD/DVD label for easy reference.

For system running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 or CentOS 4.x, the ASL RHEL4/CentOS 4.x Device Driver CD is required to access the network during the installation. This CD is only included for systems purchased with RHEL4 or CentOS 4.x.
