The ASL version of SuSE 9.0 AMD64 includes one bootable and installable DVD media. There is no printed manual. Here are the key differences between the ASL version and the regular version provided by SuSE:
ASL version supports SATA controllers without requiring a patch CD. In addition, all four ports on the Silicon Image 3114A controller are supported. The patch CD provided by SuSE can only support two ports.
ASL version includes built-in driver (3w-9xxx) support for 3Ware Escalade 9500S SATA RAID controller. Additional driver disk is not required for installation
ASL version includes the latest SuSE 2.4 kernel with many updated device drivers to enhance system stability and performance.
Note: The Sun Java 2 run time library (jave2-jre) is not included. Sun's StarOffice is also not included because of its dependency to java2-jre. Because these are licensed software, they are not included in the ASL DVD.
